On Feburary 1 and 2, Leah Crocetto makes her Austin Opera debut, lending her powerful voice to Verdi’s dramatic Messa di Requiem, under the baton of Timothy Myers. Crocetto joins an acclaimed group of soloists, including Daryl Freedman, Limmie Pulliam, and Wei Wu.

Verdi’s Requiem has become a signature for the soprano, and she has sung the solo to great acclaim at Opera Philadelphia, the LA Philharmonic, the San Diego Symphony, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Of a previous performance, Classic Melbourne said, “Crocetto’s upper notes bloomed and soared in almost impossible stratospheric splendor. Her Libera me, the final section of the Requiem, had it all: an urgent, passionate beginning, firm chest notes for the “in die illa tremenda” (in that awful day), soaring top notes and a beautifully floated, pure “Requiem” that set the tone for a deeply emotional ending.”
