Role debut as Eleonora in “The Siege of Calais” at Glimmerglass Festival
This summer, Ms. Crocetto makes her role debut as Eleonora in the United States debut of Donizetti’s L’assedio di Calais (“The Siege of Calais”) with the Glimmerglass Festival. In a production staged by Francesca Zambello, Ms. Crocetto is joined by Aleks Romano as Aurelio, Adrian Timpau as Eustachio, Chaz’men Williams-Ali as Giovanni d’Aire, Joseph Leppek as Giacomo de Wisants, Makoto Winkler as Pietro de Wisants, Carl DuPont as Armando, Harry Greenleaf as Edoardo III, Helena Brown as Isabella, and Andrés Moreno Garcia as Edmondo in this rarely performed bel canto opera. Ms. Crocetto has been praised in her previous bel canto portrayals as “arguably unstoppable, starting with her vocal opulence … brandishing a long and ample soprano whose intense and focused brilliance displays in her characterization” (Forum Opéra). Maestro Joseph Colaneri leads all performances on July 16, 22 & 24 and August 4, 10, 12, 15 & 19.
